Sugarloaf House
This ski house on a sloping, thickly
wooded Maine plot, is designed to take maximum advantage of the mountain
views and surrounding woods.
Organized around a double-height Great Room, the open plan provides views
and sunlight in all areas of the house.
Utilizing passive solar design, the stone finishes in the south-facing great
room will absorb the sun's heat during the day, through a large-scale glass
wall. The north side is more insular, protecting the house from the cold
Maine winters.
