Dwelling for a Rock Climber
As Featured in Rock & Ice magazine
unbuilt
The Structure is sited on the vertical face of a gorge wall. The interior
may be accessed by a climber entering from the top, sides or bottom, and
a small lift is provided for loading supplies and materials. The tension
structure is inspired by climbing equipment, as it suspends and braces the
body of the house. The shelter's many kinetic parts include a facade that
hinges downward to become a deck for taking in the dramatic view.
The interior spaces accomodate sleeping,
cooking and eating, climbing in inclement weather, and a small reading area.
