This new home was designed to optimize several naturally occurring resources to provde heat, lighting, water, and food. Utilizing passive solar design strategies, advanced daylighting, innovative Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC) Masonry, rainwater harvesting, an interior greenhouse and root cellar, and thermal mass strategies, the house takes a comprehensive view of sutainability in utilizing natural resources on an unremarkable suburban lot. The predominantly low-tech approach is a result of of careful planning, and collaboration between the architect, owners and various specialists.
