Another exciting project on the boards in Marblehead, MA, an addition and renovation to what the Owner describes as a “fish shack,” (which we think does not do it justice)… Sited on picturesque Redd’s Pond, with views across the Old Burial Ground Hill Cemetary, to the cove, Marblehead Light(house) in Chandler Covey Park, and the ocean beyond.
Currently on the boards, we are adding a second floor addition to a contemporary house from the 1980’s. It will be on elevated piers, with landscape and an outdoor living room below. The house is sited on the crest of a hill, with views to the coast, and the addition will be perched in the treetops to maximize the view.
We have just begun the design of renovations to this original beauty in Concord, Massachusetts. A modern house tucked away in the woods. The simplicity and legibility of the structural frame with its infill of glass is a delight.
Here’s a schematic proposal we are having a lot of fun with!
The clients asked for a small mudroom addition for their modest 1950’s ranch, and a new large deck to replace their beloved but undersized one. We’ve proposed a total break from the existing house, in material and architectural language: stained cedar, cable rails, non-orthogonal geometries. The design includes an expansive sloped roof that creates a covered walkway leading to the new side entrance, and further to the new deck as it juts outward. The overhang also serves to create a nice protected area to read a book on rainy and sunny days. New doors and windows connect the deck to the kitchen, which allows for convenient outdoor meals.
For those in the local area, our Norman House is featured in the Fall Edition of Marblehead Magazine. On newsstands now! Run don’t walk! Some very vibrant new interiors that showcase the intensity of the color scheme.
